Computer, Information and Network Security Center

The Computer, Information and Network Security Center was founded in June 2003, and is chartered to advance the science, teaching and practice of computer security, information assurance, network security and related disciplines.

Faculty within the center conduct fundamental and applied research in telecommunications, software engineering, and programming languages to develop foundational knowledge, tools, and expertise in the security of a networked computer environment.

Courses are offered in a wide variety of IT security settings, including Software Engineering, Electronic Commerce, Telecommunications and Computer Science. Additionally, the Center works to incorporate information assurance in other courses and to create additional information assurance courses as need and opportunity arise.

The major educational focus of the Center is to work within the School of Computer Science, Telecommunication and Information Systems to increase the awareness of security and to provide graduates who are better able to meet the increasing needs of the nation in the area of information assurance.

The Center also works in cooperation with Chicagoland area corporations to assist them in applying information assurance practices into their businesses operations as well as helping to cross the digital divide by coordinating with community service organizations and helping to increase their awareness and implementation of information assurance.

Our goal is to continue on the path of excellence in all facets of education and research in information assurance and its application to serve individuals, communities, and the nation.
